This is also applicable in the original game, but because of the slower pace and longer ranges in Ostfront it is more relevent.
If you have several tanks engaging the enemy, the AI will usually concentrate its fire on one of your tanks. As soon as you identify which tank it is you can start withdrawing it.
This will mean the AI tanks will start moving and thus can't fire. However, withdraw your unit too fast and they will engage one of your other units.
Another alternative is pinning the AI units. Once you have identified which unit they are firing at you can then manoeurve a second vehicle into a better firing position with relative safety.

you are right about pinning the enemy, drawing fire and carefully manouvering tanks to better fighting positions. i even sort the panzer III variants, and use the better armored to draw fire and engage the enemy tanks head on, and attempting flanking manouvers with the ausf J or H for maximum armour piercing power. i try armoured cars on the flanks if i have them too. there is a noticable difference between effective range and long range with this mod, which requires more realistic battlefield tactics to make each shot count.

The difference in effective/long range is more profound in the Beta Release (maybe too much so, but still).
I find that the Pz II's 2cm cannon very useful for flank attacks on the side of light vehicles. For some reason the Pz II only seems to fires singly at long range but when it gets close it fires in bursts. Haven't quite fanthomed why it does this but it is very realistic.

Your question about the use of light Flak guns Wolfie. Yes I do use them against Infantry, and put them behind trenches etc, Also to protect the AT guns from air attack.

yep, i use them in that way, and when i am on the all out assault, i tow them with a half track and drop them off just out of range of enemy with smallarms in trenches and houses. when i am deploying the Flak, i use a mortar smoke screen to cover it and dig it in if possible. i ensure to do a U-turn with the halftrack so teh Flak crew dig their pit on the correct side! sometimes i just drive right up behind I disagreeaulting units and deploy the flak without smokescreen. i do the same with Pak guns. i keep a machinegun crew in the halftrack, and deploy them simultaneously. the flak is best for clearing infantry in trenches and the odd vehicle and of course close anti aircraft support, and paks do well against houses, vehicles and anything else in the way. the new halftracks will be awesome with teh new weapons for the same purpose
