as i´m not familar with the textures of bk i don´t know if it is suitable or not, but on the beginning of barbarosse the tanks of the heeresgruppe mitte get a white "g" or "k" guderian/kleist painted on them - if you redesign the tanks this would be a nice detail

Very good Idea, but with the scale of things, this would not be seen.
The tanks etc are coated with dust and dirt, so thease symbols would not be seen except on HQ vehicles, and then not in war conditions.
Yes, when fresh across the borders I have pictures of them showing signs, but not after a few miles and battles.
With the scale of the maps and the longer ranges, thease things would be hard pressed and the tanks etc look smaller than the original game.

indeed for a few russian miles miles any paint suffers - but beneath the essential permanent camouflage updating the germans were rather accurate with their tactical signs - in scouting or battle formation (really dusty and dirty) it made sense to have a hint where the two leading tanks are heading to (numbers on the side and the rear)
especially for the german it was necessary to keep the writing update cause they used so many "beute"-panzer that it was a hint not to shoot a captured model
the early "k" and "g" were white and of an really ugly size, cause they should show the stukas the precise progression line - in the early easy days of german air supremacy this worked well as the real blitzkrieg tactic
i see the problem i the game is to create a new painting unit - at least to officers :-)

I did look at putting the "G" sign on, but as Foxy points out in this scale it would be lost I am thinking of having command tanks in later releases and these will have specific insignia on them. However, as you have hinted for each vehicle to have its own ID insignia would require a nnnew file for each. This would eat up too much MB 'space' and would be difficult to manage. Adrian
