Now that Mission Kursk 1.4 is available in all three languages (English, French & German) we thought it was time to add some useful topics to the board to help players set up and play multi-player games with Mission Kursk.
Multi_Play FAQ
1) To play Mission Kursk MP you need to make sure that both your installation of Blitzkrieg and Mission Kursk are "clean". This means free from any other mod files that may cause "wrong resource or data corruption errors". These are usually third party mod pak files that go into the Blitzkrieg\Run\Data directory. This is a screen shot of the folders and pak files that should be in your Data directory, anything else may cause conflicts so should be removed.
The Blitzkrieg game automatically updates the maps folder with various tga and dds images of each map you play, be it MP or SP. These images are used to show what the map looks like in the in-game pre-selection screens. However, if you have any other files such as "Bzm" or "Lua", these may also cause potential conflicts.
Mission Kursk Data Directory should only have these folders, anything else should be removed. Exception is the MK_Plane_Explode.pak file, although this will cause conflicts if not all players have this pak installed.
To save confusion and alot of "heartache" it is best practice to re-install both Blitzkrieg and Mission Kursk. Remember to update Blitzkrieg to Version 1.2 though.
2) The ailogic patch works perfectly well with Mission Kursk and certainly improves game play. However, all players must have this patch installed otherwise data corruption errors will happen.
3) Lessoning potential "sync errors". These are caused by differences in PC performances, but not necessarily "high ping". It is when one PC takes longer to process actions on screen than any other connected PC, thus the "out of sync" data errors.
To lesson the chance of this happening, especially for older PC's, you need to make sure your PC is running as fast as it can. This means closing down all other applications not required to play Blitzkrieg on-line. This includes "GameSpy" (launch games through the Blitzkrieg game menu). Also reduce your "Effects Quality" and turn off "High-Optimization".
If your PC is a Pentium 4 and uses "hyper-threading" this may also be a cause for "sync errors". You can turn hyper-threading off only through BIOS setup.
More to come......
