Building on the success of Ostfront:Barbarossa the ACTive Gaming Team have been hard at work on the next Project in the Ostfront Series. This as the working title implies with re-create the monumentous Battle of Kursk which took place on the Eastern Front in July 1943.
The player will control the German forces through 18 historical missions. Split into two mini-campaigns depicting the struggles on the German Northern and Southern attacks on the Russian defences. Using the results of extensive research of Battle accounts, orders of Battle and plans together with topographical maps each mission will cover key stages of the Kursk Battle.
Over 30 new 3d models will make an appearance. Not just a wealth of German equipment such as the Panzer III L, Panzer IV H, Junker 87 G but several new Russian units including the T 60 light tank and the Lend Lease Hurricane IIC and Bell Aircobra.
As in Barbarossa all units will depict authentic colour schemes and players will be able to take control of several elite units and tank 'aces'.
Also Kursk will make use of several new game play changes such as off-map artillery and a number of graphical enhancements such as vehicle passengers and permenant vehicle wrecks.

Will this be sold through your own online shop at first, just like Barbarossa, or will it go straight to CDV publishing? I bet they'll wanna publish this one too. IMO Ostfront is the only good thing about the whole Blitzkrieg series.

I think the permenant wrecks are a good Idea and will work well.
In fact on testing them they do make the game more real and give a sense of obstruction.
Haveing met the T60, I would say watch out.

why the change in terrian graphics? Is there a bug in the terrian graphics? Also is there a bug in the game cache? When loading a new map from a player it seems that after down loading a map from the player and rebooting the game from desk top it playes well with no crash to desk top. From NATO experience after we did not reboot the game we would we get ghost and sync errors. But does not happen when we reboot the game it self seems to run with no errors.
Does Nival know about this?

No bug in the terrain graphics, Wolfseven, in the picture you see here, just dry and dusty, thats how it was then.
Done by Paul Deacon I beleave, and very good it is to.
Your other comments do not make an answer, as this has not been put out yet, only the pictures.
Project Kursk this is my friend ;D
And yes Nival knows as does CDV.

hi to all well i just can,t wait for this one,but i have just one sugestion, can you make the ranges simular to those of the Stalingrad. about the permanent wrecks well the idea is realy nice but will hapen when some tank is destroyed over the brigde, the only solution that i see in this moment for that is to destroy the brigde and rebild it again(and this can get boring realy fast). and can you please tell us when it will be ready? how far is this project? how many maps and chapthers will be in?
oh and one more, if you people can help me it seems that i have forgoten my password can you email it to me.
user name.ilija ;D what will be the map size?
thanks

Glad to know you are interested in the sequel to Barbarossa ;D Sight and Weapon ranges will be more than Stalingrad (about twice as much for direct fire weapons). This we have found gives us a good balance between historical accuracy and gameplay. It still allows plenty of room for manoeurve, but does not over stress the mouse scrolling Permanent wrecks we feel add alot to the atmosphere of the game, but we are certainly aware of the bottlenecks they can cause, partcularly on bridges. Thus, we are making sure that each map always has an alternative avenue of advance (although this maybe an ambush in the making ). Project Kursk will re-create the major actions of the Kursk offensive. In total there will be 13 missions split between two campaigns. Each map will be around the 22 by 22 size. This gives plenty of room for players to explore different angles of attack, but does not cause any significant increase in mission load times or reduction in game performance that larger maps do. Release date Q2. Adrian Taylor ACTive Gaming Moorview Associates Limited

well that is all nice can wait. by the way what about ranges of the german tanks and AT guns will you give them advantage over the russian tanks? will the ratio betwen german and russian forces be simular to those in Kursk? and someone mentioned that it would be great if you have to clean minefields under enemy fire.

Wasn't clear when I posted.
What I meant to type was, does nival know about the cache not clearing properly when you down load a Multiplayer map from a host. If you don't reboot the game after down loading the map you get ghost, errors, and CTD's and sync outs.
We have tried verious aspects of down loads and found if you do just this procedure you'll have a some what lag free game and virtualy no errors ctd's or sync outs almost every time. Rebooting the game evertime before starting a game and after down loading a new map seems to help a-lot.
