Hey I've just bought Mission Barbarossa and played a few of the campaign maps, but then I felt like doing a few myself, but to my big surprise I couldn't get it to work. Meaning that when I start the map editor and create a new map none of the new content is there...
Well, I thought it probably says how to make the map editor work in the readme file, but then to my big surprise the word editor wasn't even mentioned in the readme file.
I think I read somewhere on this forum that you encourage people to make their own maps, but if they can't get your mod to work with the blitzkrieg editor that might be a bit hard?
Isn't 14,99 US dollars a bit expensive for a mod which contains 28 new units, 1 campaign and a few missions and which is not compatible with the blitzkrieg map editor which would allow you to make your on maps and have a lot more fun playing this mod?
Well, this is where my question which might not be that hard to guess comes, how do you make the map editor work with mission Barbarossa???
Thanks a lot for a great mod, in spite of the map editor thing... ;D

Using the map editor isn't a very easy thing at the start, you'll need to look around a lot in order to understand how it works. A good start is to look in the help menu of the editor, in 'Contents' you have a summary of all its functionnalities. There are also a few good player-made tutorials floating around on the Net on how to get started with the editor, one of them being here: www.roadtovictory.co.uk/. You can also find useful info at the Gamers Battlefield site: thegamersbattlefield.com/ and simply on the CDV board Blitzkrieg mod forum. Now back to your question on how to get the MB units to appear in the editor menu: In order to get the units of MB to appear you must create a map with 'Ostfront Barbarossa' selected in the mod submenu. It's also possible to convert a standard map by opening it with 'Ostfront Barbarossa' selected in the mod submenu again. If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask again here. HTH

Thanks a lot for your answer BB Fred.. ;D I have no problems with using the editor, but with getting the new units to work with the editor. I have installed and used hundreds of mod, so I know about the submenu where you select the mod, but in my editor it isn't there... I have no other mods installed at the time being as I feared that they might cause something like this. Mission Barbarossa is installed over the Rolling Thunder expansion. I think that I'll just try to reinstall the mod one more time and then if that doesn't work I'll try installing it over the Burning Horizon expansion. Just a couple of questions that has nothing to do with this problem: 1.Fred how come the development of the R2V mod was halted, I really thought and still think that it's the best blitzkrieg mod created to date. 2. Are you currently working on a 2,0 version??? Anyway thanks again hope I’m not too much of a problem...

This is strange indeed, I just installed MB on Burning Horizon and had no problem creating an Ostfront map from its map editor, all Ostfront specific units are showing ok too. Unfortunately I can't repeat the experience with Rolling Thunder as (believe it or not!) I don't have it... Maybe Adrian will be able to clear the issue for you? Maybe it's a RT-specific problem altho I don't see the reason as modding teams have successfully modded RT already? Maybe it would be just as simple to use Blitzkrieg rather than RT as a mapping platform, if you actually have BK. Even if MB works with BH & RT, it was done from the ground up for the original BK platform. Thanks for the comments about RTV, much appreciated. What happened to the RTV team is what's happened to many other modding teams... With time passing most team members lost their enthusiasm in the project, or turned to other things, or just got caught up with this strange thing called a life. As I was pretty much the only one left working on the project, I decided to just finish & release what I could do on my own, and then I got caught up too with other things... As to the future, well working with Adrian is a 100%-time occupation and even more at times like now when we're finishing Kursk... Meaning we simply don't have time to mod anymore, and spend all of it trying to release 'mods' also called 'add-ons' in a more professionnal manner. Anyway if I could have kept on working on further versions I would probably have gone the way Adrian traced with MB, as we share the same ideas on gameplay and realism. So no there won't be a new RTV mod, well not one in which I'll be involved at least, but the spirit that made the realism part of RTV is also in MB, and soon in Kursk too. That's the best way to still do what you like to do while incidentally being able to also pay your bills.

Well I'm sorry to hear about the R2V mod (add-on) but then I'm very much looking forward to the Kursk add-on it looks amazing indeed! ;D I've tried Installing the original Blitzkrieg and patched it up to 1,2 and then installed the Mission Barbarossa add-on, but still it doesn't appear in the mod submenu of the map editor? I find it very strange and a bit frustrating that I can play the mod with the game but not use it with the map editor... To make it even stranger I have been able to make the Mission Barbarossa demo (Ostfront demo) work with the map editor... I've also updated Mission Barbarossa with the patch from this website and the map pack without any luck... I will try to write Adrian about my problem and see if he can figure this one out... Anyway thanks a lot for your help and answers, it's really great to play a game where the developers are also keen on helping those with problems...

Even tho it's sold under the name of Mission Barbarossa the mod name in the game Options menu and the one to select in the map editor is still 'Ostfront 0.1'. Maybe the confusion comes from there?
Another thing you can try is to activate the mod in the game then exit, and launch the map editor, see if 'Ostfront 0.1' appears.

Sorry, been away for a couple of days. Yep the reason Mission:Barbarossa will not show in the MAP EDITOR is to do with the name change from Ostfront:Barbarossa. To gain access to the Barbarossa units for your own personal modding use . You will need to modify the mod XML file to read as follows (remember to take a back up copy): <MODName>Ostfront</MODName> <MODVersion>0.1</MODVersion> <MODDesc /> After doing this then Ostfront0.1 will appear in the pull down list in the MAP EDITOR and you will have access to all the new units. You will not be able to modify the campaign maps, but can create your own custom missions. Please note when you launch the main game it will read Ostfront0.1 in the bottom right hand corner. You will not be able to access the Barbarossa campaign but will be able to play any newly created, campaigns, chapters or missions using the Ostfront0.1 designated maps. When you wish to play the Mission Barbarossa maps you will need to re-insert the Mission Barbarossa mod.XML file. Hope this helps. Adrian
