Okay, the new random maps have been a hit with the beta testers, so although there is a bit more work to be done on them I will just outline the main improvements.
Firstly, they are alot bigger than the originals. This is needed to compensate for the increased gun ranges and visual sighting. However, you get alot more room to manoeurve.
I have altered the terrain generation so players will get significant changes from one map to the next.
The AI reactions have been improved due to the changes in game play and also to additional scripting.
You will also find that the amount of enemy forces will increase as you progress through the ranks and gain more units.
No more unit oddities such as Sherman Rocket launchers or confronting T 34's on your first mission!
Access to HMG and mortar teams on some maps, but not all.

Looking forward to playing Ostfront! Just ordered it yesterday...
Anyway, I was wondering how you went about editing the random maps - I would like to add more enemy units to them. If you have any advice about this, I would appreciate it greatly.

Yep, thanks recognised the name I was wondering when you would wander over here to ask that question. To add more units you need to firtsly access the various patch files. To do this you need to unzip the scenario patch files to your BK\Run\Data directory. Then open them with the MAP EDITOR and start adding units. However, it is not as simple as that. As units in the patch files are generated using the chapter context files. The units you place on the patch maps are just representative of type of units. For example a Russian BT 7 is classified as arm_Light Now un-zip a context file for a particular chapter to your BK/Run/Data directory and open it. You will see a long list in xml format. This list is split into 3 sections. Easy, Normal and Hard. Under each heading you can see which units will be generated. This is weighted, thus you get a random placement effect. If you are going to change any of these make sure you get the unit name correct, otherwise you will get CTD's when playing the random map. Once you made your changes test by generating a map in the MAP EDITOR. Note blue units (Player core units) will not appear this way. Once you are satisfied save the patch and context files to your Mod directory. If you have any further queries e-mail me off-line. Adrian
