Hello everyone I just bought Mission: Barbarossa which is exactly the same as Ostfront. I made it into the mission where you have a handful of infanteries tasked with capturing a road bridge and a rail bridge over the Berezina river, and the proceed to the East. I stormed the rail bridge first. After a brief firefight the Russkies retreated. But when I brought my infanteries to the rail bridge itself it collapsed! And I didn't even have engineers to fix it then. Then came another objective: take the road bridge beside the rail bridge. What followed was a long and tedious defense against a counteraattack and then assault of the Russkie fortifications on the road bridge. Then the road bridge collapsed! Fortunately I finally have my engineers. When the engineers fixed the first span of the road bridge it says "Objective Completed" but soon afterwards it says MISSION FAILED! YOU LOST. WHAT HAPPENED??!?!?? I still have all my engineers and only a few infanterie units were wasted. This must be a BUG. What am I going to do now???

Does that mean you already bought Ostfront?
Can you confirm if you have been promoted from Leutnant yet? You should have 8 Panzer and 3 artillery pieces. If not, there is a chance that the scripting will think that you have in--sufficient forces available and trigger the "Lost Command" script.

Yes that's what it says "You lost too many men and you have insufficient equipment..." something like that.
Do I have to restart from the previous chapter in order to get promoted?

No, just do some more random maps on your present chapter until you get promoted. You will also gain access to better equipment when completing the random missions which you will need in the future We will be releasing a fix to rectify this issue soon, but it will be better for you to get promoted at this stage. Please note we recommend you achieve the first promotion level before reaching this Historical Mission. If you have not, you may well fail at this mission prematurely (unless you load the fix below) and you will find further missions alot harder to complete without the additional equipment promotions give you or the bonus units you get when completing the random maps.

Thank you for the fix.
Just last night I had to play as many as 4 or 5 more random missions in order to get promoted.
I usually hate random missions. I got used to handling many panzers while playing Hagelsturm and other custom chapters and maps.
I am trying to get used to it since it brings about promotion and new units.
Usually how many random missions are recommended to be played in between the historical missions?

Minimum is one to get the historical map to appear, but would recommend 3.

Hi Gordo, Well, the answer to your question is all in this very thread. If you didn't reach the rank of 'Oberleutnant' before starting this historical mission we strongly suggest you load up the saved game named "Mission End Auto", click the "End" button, then choose & complete a few more random scenarios until you reach said rank. As an alternative, if you can't be bothered with random missions, you can download this quick fix, unzip and install the file inside in your .../Blitzkrieg/Run/Mods/Ostfront/Data folder: www.activegaming.org/Mission4_Brobruisk_No_Promotion_Fix.pakWith this file installed, you can carry on & complete the mission without getting promoted to 'Oberleutnant' first (you need to restart the mission from scratch tho after loading the "Mission End Auto" save file). But be advised overlooking promotion at this stage may be detrimental to your progression in further chapters in the campaign!
